There has always been a large debate on whether breastfeeding or formula is the best way to go when it comes to feeding your newborn baby. This will be a two part blog. In this one we will talk about the pros and cons of breastfeeding. In the second blog in this series will talk about the pros and cons of using formulas.
Pros
When it comes to breastfeeding there are multiple different benefits for the baby. According to medical news today (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/322819#pros-of-breastfeeding) some of the short term benefits include a lower risk of things such as ear infections, eczema, cold and infections, and more. But, there are also long term benefits such as reducing the babies future risk of type 1 and 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, and other things.
There are also some benefits to the mother as well. One of the key benefits is that the mother is less likely to experience postpartum depression.
Cons
When it comes to Breastfeeding there are not many cons. However, it is important to know them before making your decision! When it comes to Breastfeeding the main con is that it requires you to keep track of your diet. When it comes to feeding the baby via breast feeding all of the nutrients the baby absorbs will come from your body. One example would be drinking caffeine or alcohol. It is important to moderate your caffeine and alcohol consumption.
